Board of Directors The Haverford Township School District
Education Foundation is run by a board of directors who are members
of the community, teachers, administrators and students. The
board meets monthly to set policy, work on projects and implement
fundraising strategies. Officers of the board are elected annually
in October by the board whose members serve staggered, three year
terms.
Ellen Fisher
President: Ellen T. Fisher
As president of the board, Ellen Fisher contributes her considerable
talents as a business entrepreneur. Ellen is founder of Women's Yellow
Pages of Greater Philadelphia, a directory of women-owned businesses
and services. She added a companion internet directory in 1999 and,
more recently, launched Connect, a monthly e-newsletter for women
in business. Ellen is also the founder and past president of The National
Association of Women's Yellow Pages (now the Women's Regional Publications
of America), where she has guided the development of similar directories
throughout the United States, and the co-founder of the Women's Business
Development Center in Philadelphia. Active in many small business
organizations, Ms. Fisher was recognized in 2003 as one of Pennsylvania's
Best 50 Women in Business. She has twice served as a delegate to the
White House Conference on Small Business. Ms. Fisher is the recipient
of many other awards including the Athena Award given by the Delaware
County Chamber of Commerce, the Women in Business Advocate Award,
from the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and a Women in Business
Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Ellen
is presently serving on the Women's Regional Publications of America
National Executive Board, PA Small Business Development Center's Board
of Directors, Main Line Health System's Women's Health Source Advisory
Board and the Planned Parenthood PAC Board. She is also involved in
several area Chambers of Commerce. Ms. Fisher's two children attend
the Haverford Township schools. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania
State University.
Mary Beth Lauer
Vice President: Mary Beth Lauer Mary
Beth Laueris well-known to the Haverford School District community. As
the School District Community Relations Director, she has been
extolling the virtues of our schools to the media and public since
1996. She is also responsible for one of those virtues: Young Writers' Day.
Beginning in 1985, Ms. Lauer has organized annual Young Writers' Days
in the elementary and middle schools bringing professional writers into
classrooms to conduct writing workshops with students. Prior to joining
the school district staff, Mary Beth spent several years as a
journalist with The News of Delaware County, as an educational
consultant to the Philadelphia Inquirer and as a free-lance writer and
journalist. Most important to the board, Ms. Lauer was the spark that
ignited the formation of the Foundation. She holds a B.A. degree from
Immaculata University. Her three sons were educated in the district's
public schools.
Carrie Gizienski
Treasurer: Carrie Gizienski, CPA
Carrie Gizienski, CPA – Carrie is currently the tax manager for Urban Outfitters, Inc. Before assuming that job, she worked as the manager of federal taxes at Campbell Soup Company and as a Tax Manager for Deloitte Tax LLP. Through these positions, she has experience with both corporate and individual income taxes, sales and use tax, payroll tax, preparing financial statements and conducting audits. Carrie will be serving as the treasurer of the foundation. She is a cum laude accountancy graduate of Villanova University. Her son attends school in the district.
Chris Fritton
Co-Secretary: Christine C. Fritton, Esq. Chris Fritton brings to the board her background as a legal professional. After clerking for the Hon. Joseph L. McGlynn, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, she practiced law for several years with the Philadelphia law firm of Kittredge, Donley, Elson, Fullam & Embick. Chris currently serves as an Associate Director of the Career Planning & Professionalism office of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Since moving to Haverford Township in 1987, she has been active in school and School District activities as a member of the School District’s Language Arts Task Force and as coordinator of several Young Writers’ Days, Middle School Career Days and the Oakmont Elementary School Acorn newspaper and Classics in the Classroom music education program. She also helped organize and run Word Master clubs in the Middle School. She has a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law. Chris’ three daughters have been educated in the Haverford School District.
Pam Carroll

Carroll
Pam Carroll brings the experience of her 30-year career as an insurance
executive to the board. After graduating from The Pennsylvania State
University, Pam's career included operational management roles with
Colonial Penn Insurance Company, CIGNA and Coventry Healthcare. Pam
also worked with the Business School at Penn State to create a case
study for their core curriculum program, based on her Claim Department
Transformation at CIGNA. Pam and her family have been residents of
Havertown since 1976. Her two children attended district schools.
She served as PTO President and May Day Chairperson at Oakmont Elementary
School. She also served on the initial Haverford Township Preschool
Program Research Team.
Brian Barrett

Barrett
If you or your children have participated in one of the many Haverford
Township recreational or sports activities, you probably have Brian
to thank for it. A graduate of Temple University with a degree in
finance, Brian had worked for the Haverford Township since 1985 and
has been the Program Director of the Haverford Township Recreation
Department for many years. He is an active member of community as
a member and past president of the Havertown Optimist Club, a member
of the Haverford State Ad Hoc Advisory Committee, a board member of
Haverford Blaze Lacrosse and a coach of teams in Haverford Girls Lacrosse
and Havertown Hoops. Brian's children attend Haverford Township schools.
Jim Blumenstock
Jim Blumenstock Jim brings to the board his considerable experience in both the public and private sector. Having held management positions at Johnson & Johnson, Glaxo SmithKline and the American Red Cross, Jim decided to take those skills and open his own business by becoming a franchisee of the Great Harvest Bread Company. He owns and operates stores in Wayne and Ardmore. He has been involved in a myriad of community activities including the Keystone Gardens and the Wayne Business Association. He has coached soccer, chaired the Newtown Recycling Program and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He holds a B.A. in Regional Planning from Mansfield University and a M.S. in Business Logistics from Penn State University. Jim’s wife Kim works for the Haverford School District and their three children have been educated in the district’s schools.
Michelle Collier
Michelle Collier
Having volunteered to help at the Foundation’s Twilight Run, Michelle knew she had found an organization to which she could bring her talents and energy. An owner of Performance Fitness, LLC, Michelle is an ACE certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, a certified Pilates instructor and a certified CrossFit instructor. Her background is varied and interesting. She previously served as the Assistant to the Director of Fine and Performing Arts of the Newburgh Enlarge School District, worked as a professional opera singer, a music therapist and caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. Michelle has been active in our community as a member of the Main Line Chapter of Business Network International, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, the Main Line Chamber of Commerce, the Wynnewood Business Association and the Midlantic Business Alliance. She is also the treasurer of the Sisters of Faith at the White Rock Baptist Church, which focuses on mentoring young girls and providing fellowship for women. She is also a member of American Bando Association, an international non-profit martial arts organization which honors veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and the Iraq/Afghanistan War. Michelle has a B.A. in Music Therapy from Montclair State University and a Master’s in Music in Opera Performance from the Boston Conservatory.
Dr. William Keilbaugh
Dr. William Keilbaugh
Dr. William Keilbaugh began his career in special education teaching
emotionally disturbed children - the foundation for his current
position as Assistant Superintendent of
Pupil Personnel Services and Elementary Administration. For 17 years,
he has directed special education and all pupil services as well as
elementary education for Haverford Township schools. He is a
1971graduate of West Chester University; holds a master's degree from
Villanova University and earned a doctorate at Temple University. Dr.
Keilbaugh has also served as supervisor of Special Education for
Haverford Township schools. Prior to coming to Haverford, he supervised
special education for the Berks County Intermediate Unit
in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Susan Lastowski

D. Lastowski
With a Bachelors degree from Brown University and a Masters in Higher
Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, Susan
has worked in employee benefits for over two decades with Mercer Consulting,
the law firm of Pepper Hamilton. She is currently employed by the
law firm of Morgan Lewis & Bochius as a Senior Employee Benefits
Advisor. Susan has been an active volunteer in many community organizations
as a member of the Steering Committee, Family Support Services in
Upper Darby, a Duckery Elementary School tutor, a fundraiser for Fox
Chase Cancer Center and breast cancer including the 3-day 60 walk,
a Board member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Pre-School and an annual
participant if the Philadelphia Festival Dragon Boat race. Susan's
children have attended Haverford Township schools.
John McCall
John McCall, Ph.D.
John McCall, Ph.D, has been on the faculty of Saint Joseph's
University since 1981.He is a
professor in the Departments of Management and Philosophy and the Director of
the university's Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics. He has written
extensively on business ethics, employee rights and moral philosophy. He
previously served as Acting Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at St.
Joe's. After earning his B.A. from LaSalle and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the
University of Notre Dame, John taught at Iowa State University, the McDonough
School of Business at Georgetown University, and the Wharton School at the
University of Pennsylvania. In our community, he has been active as a member of
Citizens for Quality Education. John resides in the township with his wife and
daughter, who is now in her 12th year of education in the Haverford Township
School District.
Rubén Mendoza
Rubén Mendoza, Ph.D Rubén
was born in El Salvador and moved to New York City in 1981. He
completed his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering at the City
College of the City University of New York. Ruben worked for The
Procter & Gamble Company in the Management Information Systems
Division from 1988-1996. He pursued graduate studies at the University
of Michigan, from which he received a Master's in Business
Administration and a Master's in Information Science in 1999. He
completed his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY in 2006. He is currently an Assistant
Professor in the Decision & System Sciences at Saint Joseph's
University's E. K. Haub School of Business. He and his wife, Elizabeth
(a classically-trained professional musician; cello), and their
daughter, Maya (a student in the school district), have lived in
Havertown since 2003.
John P. Meyer
John P. Meyer Jon P. Meyer is Vice President of Sales of Nolan Painting in Havertown. He has been an active member of our community as a member and board member of the Kiwanis Club of the Main Line, a member and past president of the Delaware Valley chapter of Painting and Decorating Contractors of America , a member of the Radnor Run and Reindeer Romp Race Committees and Den Leader of Cub Scout Pack 462. Most important to the foundation, Jon is the Co-Chair of the foundation’s own 5K Twilight Run and 1 Mile Challenge. He has a B.A. from West Virginia University. Jon’s two children attend school in the district.
Susan Mingey Susan has made her mark in the school district during the past 25 years. Starting first as the seminar teacher at Manoa and Coopertown, she spent three years as the Coordinator of Special Programs and now serves as the Principal of Lynnewood Elementary School. Her energy and dedication to her students and the district are well-known. Still the educator, Susan also teaches Differentiated Instruction and Leadership courses to graduate students at Cabrini College. Susan earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from West Chester University, a Master’s in Education and Gifted Education from Widener University, a Supervisor Certificate from Widener University and a Principal’s Certificate from St. Joseph’s University. Susan has three children, the youngest of whom attended Haverford Township schools.
Lillian Mittleman
Lillian Mittleman Lillian began working with the Foundation through the Twilight Run, helping to design the annual shirts. She brings her experience in public relations to the Foundation board. After earning a degree in journalism from Penn State, Lillian wrote for her hometown newspaper and a local-history magazine in central Pennsylvania. After moving to Delaware County, she served as Community Relations Specialist in the William Penn School District for 10 years and then communications director for the law firm of Becket & Watkins for three years. She earned a master’s degree in informational technology from Temple and began teaching computer classes at the Information Technology Academy of Delaware County Community College. In addition to the Foundation, Lillian volunteers in her children’s schools. She is public relations secretary for Chatham Park and the website designer for the Haverford Middle School PTO. She also volunteers in communications roles with the Delaware County Literacy Council and the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra. Lillian and her husband Joe have two sons who attend district schools.
Gary Mottola

Mottola, Ph.D.
Dr. Mottola brings both his insights and business talents to the board.
He received a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY at Albany, an M.A. in Industrial
& Organizational Psychology form CUNY, Brooklyn College and a
Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Delaware. In the past, Gary has worked as a budget analyst for the New York City Fire Department,
a database manager for PECO Energy,
and a researcher in Vanguard's Center for Retirement Research. Currently, Gary works in FINRA's Office of Investor Education, where he works to help improve financial literacy among under-served populations. He has been an active volunteer for many years with Haverford Blaze
Lacrosse, serving as its vice-president, coach, webmaster and drafter of its
bylaws. He has also coached for the Haverford Soccer Club and the
Merion Golf/Merwood Youth Athletic Association. In addition, Gary
was instrumental in drafting the PTO bylaws of Chestnutwold Elementary
School. Gary's children attend schools in Haverford school district.
J. Eric Rathburn, Esq.
J. Eric Rathburn, Esq. Eric has a breadth of experience assisting clients with business law matters, including: contracts, joint ventures, e-commerce, debt/equity financings, mergers, acquisitions and other business transactions, employment matters, intellectual property, and supply/distribution agreements. Currently a partner in Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP, Eric has received a number of recognitions, including as a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” (2007) in Philadelphia magazine and Law & Politics magazine. Eric is an active community member. Beginning in 1999, he led a core group in organizing the Haverford Soccer Club, currently one of the largest soccer clubs in Pennsylvania,. He helped to form a board of directors and recruit talented individuals to serve. The new board adopted and implementing bylaws, a mission statement, policies, procedures, and codes of conduct; launched a club website; and attaining 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Eric served in many leadership positions in HSC, including: chairman, president, secretary, and director of travel soccer. He was the architect of HSC's scholarship program, and served at times as the chair of the scholarship, rules and policies, and communications committees. In 2002, Eric was recognized as a “Hometown Hero” by Haverford Township. He earned his B.A. from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and his J.D. cum laude from Dickinson School of Law (Penn State), where he was Edi tor-in-Chief of the Dickinson Law Review. A resident of Haverford Township since 1989, Eric has children who have completed (2), currently receive (1), or will soon start (1) their education in Haverford Township schools.

Megan Romano
Megan brings to the board her many years of training and experience in teaching. She has taught in the Haverford school district for almost two decades at Lynnewood, Manoa and, now, Coopertown, teaching kindergarten, first and third grades. She is fully certified in the Responsive Classroom Approach and has served on many school district committees including the district wide homework committee. She has also coached in the Haverford Lacrosse Recreation Program. Megan has a B.S. in Psychology from Bloomsburg University, Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and School Counseling from Widener University and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education at Widener. She and her husband Mike have three children who attend district schools.
Nicholas Rotoli
Nicholas
Rotoli, D. Ed.
Dr. Rotoli is well-known to the Haverford Township community. Currently
the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the School District
of Haverford Township, he has held several other positions in the
district - high school assistant principal, Dean of English and principal
of Haverford High School. A graduate of LaSalle University, Nick was
awarded an assistantship to the University of Wisconsin where he earned
a master's degree in English. He later earned his doctorate in Education
Administration from Widener University and is currently working toward
an MBA at LaSalle. Nick began his teaching career in New Jersey where
he was awarded the Distinguished Teacher Award from the Camden Board
of Education in 1979. The Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English
and Language Arts has recognized him with its "Outstanding English
Educator" award in 1997. In 2001, he brought the Philadelphia
branch of the Anti-Defamation League to Haverford High School to work
with students on a "tolerance and diversity" education project.
The League honored his commitment to diversity education when they
recognized him for this innovative project that year.
Yvonne Wagner
Yvonne Wagner – Yvonne currently serves as the Assistant Business Manager of the Stratford Friends School. She has previously been the Vice President, Audit for the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union and served in several capacities at Arthur Andersen, LLP. She has used her skills in the district serving as the co-treasurer of the Oakmont Elementary School PTO. She has also volunteered for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Yvonne holds as B.S. degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s University. Yvonne’s children, with her husband Bill, attend district schools.
